BASH CELEBRATES MITCHELL GOLD + BOB WILLIAMS' SILVER ANNIVERSARY!
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is my favorite place to dream. Not only are their furniture designs gorgeous, comfortable, and classic; but they are a wonderful company built on innovation celebrating 25 years in the home furnishing business. The Boston signature store sits around the corner from where I live on the edge of the South End and at the beginning of the bustling Back Bay. I get to stroll past their window displays everyday on my way to and from the office, gaze in the windows, and drool over the graphic prints and clean lines.
When I heard from a colleague and friend that Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams' were celebrating their Silver Anniversary around the country at each of their Signature stores, I immediately jumped at the chance to meet the Director of Marketing & Administration at the Boston location. Tom & Collins, a sexy DJ duo from Mexico City were going to be pumping beats, the unstoppable Max Ultimate Food was ready for the cake pop and dessert challenge, and the MGBW raffle was going to benefit The Pine Street Inn that evening. If it was going to be anything like their re-opening cocktail party back in 2012, benefitting Youth Design—a non-profit I've volunteered with, I wasn't about to miss this one.
The next thing I knew, I was chatting with manager Greg Sweeney sitting comfortably in one of their gorgeous living room settings for hours. This time I was on the other side of the window admiring their beautiful furniture and glossy fixtures. I felt like I was in a jewel box.
I learned that MGBW started in wholesale designing pieces for hotels and home furniture brands like Crate & Barrel and was now taking off in the retail market around the world. The forward thinking brand stands not only for style and design, but have partnered with a number of non-profits to help and support equality, GLBTQ rights, our children and cancer research. Comfort, value, "rigorous standards for quality" and preserving the environment are also at the forefront of MGBW's mission.
Their vision to create "comfortable, classic and affordable" furniture in 1989 when the economy was unstable, has reached over a $100 million in sales. And what started with Bob re-slipping his dining chairs with pre-washed fabrics, has become a place for rugs, linens, lighting, furniture and of course, upholstery. If you step into any of their stores, you'll slip right into their reinvented furniture shopping experience. They've created an incredible company and I am so grateful to have been a part of their special night. Thank you Greg, Mitchell and Bob.
Inspired by their story, I was determined to be a part of their 25th Anniversary celebration on April 25th. I partnered with Lily Among Thorns and created our own Bash tags and invite-to-creativity card for each one of the invited guests. An overwhelming amount of silver tinsel arrived earlier that week and we were off punching holes, assembling and dropping into MGBW swag bags! Popping out the tops of each bag, we were also in good company with the newest issue of Boston Magazine. We scattered a few around the space and spotted guests having fun with them throughout the night! Fit for a silver anniversary, we think these silver drink stirrers have an array of talents! Check out how we like to use them and show us how you celebrate by snapping a photo and using #bashstudio!
Styled at MGBW Boston, we had a little party of our own before the doors opened later that evening for the real celebration!
We created silver striped glass vessels inspired by my favorite MGBW chair, the iconic black and white striped Blakely Chair. If that's not the perfect chair for the Bash studio, I'm not sure what is!
