Always thoughtful but naturally busy, an entrepreneur, innovator and husband, knew he wanted to do something romantic, special and most of all private for his wife on their first Valentine’s day as husband and wife.
In typical gentleman fashion, with only a few days to plan, Mr. Romantic and I crafted a surprise intimate dinner in their home in Boston, Mass. The couple had hired me to style their wedding last fall so it was extra special to have this opportunity to create a romantic setting that captured their spirit. I started to sketch and pull together my ideas and in a hearts flutter, shades of currant and a blend of textures took shape.
Then on the crisp cool Valentine’s day following a winter storm, I snuck into their warm home and began to transform their dining table for two. This was their center of every evening after work sharing their days, ideas and plans for the future. Their cozy all white kitchen was an everyday backdrop for a surprise full of romance and fun. I draped the table with fringed crepe paper, created height with gold candle sticks set in sparkly gold-dipped wine bottles (who doesn't love to repurpose!) surrounded by a bed of jewel tone florals. Mercury glass vessels reflected the gold accents and shades of pink details throughout. I left sweet unexpected goodies at their place settings and a savory dinner for two waiting for them in their refrig. This night was simply about enjoying each other.
